Old West Festival – Giveaway 2014

Old West FestivalWell, September arrived, and with it cooler temperatures and great festivals. I’m super excited to be helping to promote the Old West Festival again this year. If you haven’t been, you’ll want to attend. We’ve been going for the past three years, and it’s one of our absolute can’t miss fall events.

Old West Festival 2014

Strap on your boots and mosey on out to a place where scenes out of a John Wayne western come alive as the Old West Festival returns, weekends September 6 through October 12, 2014. Located at its permanent site, just 15 minutes from I-275, east of Cincinnati, the seventh annual Old West Festival promises to transport visitors back in time to an authentic Dodge City Wild West town circa 1878.
Old West Fest deputized lawmen photo credit Amy QuinnDrawing more than twenty thousand visitors each fall, the permanent old west town is home to everything you would expect to see in a real western town if you stepped back in time. Attendees will enjoy historically accurate medicine and saloon shows, can-can dancers in the saloon, gunfights, jailbreaks, and more. Period interpreters will also be found walking the streets and performing the roles of cowboys, storeowners, residents, and of course, outlaws.
The Old West Festival will also be abuzz with period music. Attendees can enjoy the sounds of the 1800’s with music from Gunpowder Creek as well as Raison d’Etre, a trio mixing traditional folk songs with a capella swing tunes and Shaker hymns.
Other performers will be about town as well. Magician Jason Jacobs will amaze, bewilder and astonish with his magical flare and the Pickle Brothers will shock with their mind-boggling performances. Trick rider Abigail Petersen will astound audiences with her horsemanship and daring stunts. Visitors to the Long Branch Saloon will enjoy shows by world champion roper Rider Keisner, and folks will no doubt get a “kick” out of Miss Melody Star and her Hurdy Gurdy Dancing Girls.
And what would the old west be without a good ole’ fashioned gunfight? Back by popular demand, four times daily starting at high noon, the Big Irons Rangers return with their gunfight re-enactments and trick shooting. In between shows they, and other period interpreters, will be walking the grounds to meet visitors and pose for photos.
The Old West Festival is a grand time for the young’ins, too. At 10:15 a.m. daily, the kiddies can get sworn in as town deputies. They can also enjoy old-timey puppet and magic shows, storytelling and sing-a-longs. The youngsters can also participate in historic games, pan for gold, take a ride on the A&A Express train, take a pony ride, and even cross the frontier in a covered wagon.
The Old West Festival runs from September 6th until October 12th. Tickets to the Old West Festival can be purchased for $12, $6 for children ages 6-12, children 5 and under admitted for free. (You will want to bring a little extra spending money for food, drink & other fun)  Parking is free and the festival will be held, rain or shine. Tickets are available in advance at www.oldwestfestival.com.  If you aren’t feeling lucky, or this contest passes you by, or maybe you want to go to the festival more than once, than I also have a discount code to share with you!   OLD WEST DISCOUNT  —  You can save $2 on adult admission and $1 on children’s admission when using code YEEHAW14 at checkout when ordering online.  This is a 17% savings on admission…What a GREAT deal!

Would love to go to the Old West Festival this year. I’ve wanted to go since it opened, may 2014 be the year I make it out there with the fam!

Sounds like fun to go to the Old West Festival. Our son wants to be a cowboy bandit for Halloween this year, and I’m sure the festival will give us great ideas and inspiration for his costume. I liked both Facebook pages. Thanks!
